![]() I think there is also a version of mint based on debian. If you still want a Debian based system you can try DeepinOS which is basically debian but with a unique desktop (which looks gorgeous, but too restricted to my liking) and a newer kernel, but is less popular than the others and therefore might be less reliable. another good noob friendly distro is Pop!_os which has newer packages than mint. ![]() ![]() Mint is a fork of ubuntu and its basically the standard for a noob friendly distro nowadays. If you still want more stability but not using packages as old as debian offers, you can just use Ubuntu LTS. Most people, especially young or tech savy people, dont really need things to remain the same that drastically, and would prefer somewhat newer packages, which is where ubuntu comes along. Ubuntu has a con that its lately pushing a packaging format called snaps, which shouldnt matter to you much but it tends to be unstable sometimes (its still fairly new). Debian goes for stability, but not as in a reliable system but in the sense of a non changing system, so packages are left very old for a long time and only get updates i think once every 2 years, and even then not to the latest versions in that time. For most people Ubuntu is probably the better choice. Both distros are great in their own regard.
